This is our trip with the Rocky Mountaineer. We went by taxi to the station and checked in. On the platform, we tried to make photographs of the oncoming train but had to be careful not to over the yellow stripe for safety reasons. When the train arrived, the carpet was laid out and we could enter. We had places in the top cabin of a glass roof and sides with beautiful view. The seats were comfortable land adjustable. The very first thing when all of us were seated we were given a glass of orange juice and were given a welcoming talk. The train has 564 guests and 90 personnel of which 20 are trainees. We all hoped to see wild animals so we were told if you see one call out. The journey then set off and we moved. The train goes very slowly so we can observe but the mountains are still rather cloudy because of the fire which was still going on.
We were invited to have breakfast, the first 30 seats first and tomorrow we will be second sitting. A very big choice of food. I had blueberry pancakes and obviously coffee. The train keeps moving very slowly and sometimes we must stop because the track is being shared with the work traffic and we sit on a side track to wait until the train has passed. We were told these trains can be very long and have even 200 carriages, although this not happen to us although they were quite long and we will have to wait. Staff came around and asked what we liked to drink. This happened all the way to Kamloops, we were served with nuts, drinks etc. The lunch was also nice. We went to our chairs again but so far, no animals., rather disappointing but the countryside with its forests and mountains is still beautiful. The many rivers have very blue water which is explained as rock flowers which comes down from the mountains. Lots of lakes and rivers, fast flowing. Still no animals!!At around 7 we arrived at Kamloops. We were very tired and when arrived at the hotel we went upstairs and to bed.
