yesterday we booked a trip by bus, called 'HopOnBanff' . this is a bus service which brings you to the Banff National Park, like lake Louise and Lake Moraine, and several hikes you want to undertake. This service was started because of the traffic and the number of cars wanted to drive and the park was to be protected. Now there are even times when cars cannot go through, too many and not enough places. We thought because of this the bus was a good idea and so we went. Brilliant I say because you book and pay for the bus and you can then go where you want to go and make your walk or sightseeing, go back to the bus which runs around and you can pick it up when you want and do another part of what you chose. I think you could fill a fortnight doing just that, the area is huge. Large snow-capped mountains and pine forests, I did not realise there are so many different varieties of pines. Since we booked a lunch as well we tried every restaurant but only the one at the bottom of the mountain served lunch, we were not impressed, not with the food either. We then took the bus again to lake Moraine and the conductor told that Lake Moraine was far more beautiful then Lake Louise but not visited as much as Lake Louise. He showed us a 20 dollar bill which had Lake Moraine pictured. We were told we could climb up some rocks, rather high, to look over the lake but we chose to have a walk along its shores. The background with it snow capped mountains was spectacular only the white smoke from the fires in the Rockies spoiled the view. We had an hour before the bus took us to lake Louise. Very, very busy . We again walked along the lake but too many people and on the lake as well canoeing. A large hotel was situated there , 500 rooms which in summer were almost 100% occupied and in winter between 50 and 75%. Skiing is very popular and if you think that there is 7 meters of snow and sometimes more.
